What is Band 14?
When emergencies happen, first responders need fast and reliable communication they can count on to help ensure public demand doesn’t jam their networks. That’s why the federal government set aside Band 14 spectrum specifically for public safety, dedicated when they need it. No other carrier has this.
First responders on FirstNet get prioritized access on all AT&T commercial bands, in addition to Band 14. This gives them immediate access to all of the benefits of FirstNet, giving them the coverage and capacity they need, when they need it most.

During an emergency, this band – or lane – is locked and available only to first responders on FirstNet. That means only those on FirstNet have access to Band 14 spectrum, further elevating their connectivity and emergency response. They never have to compete with commercial traffic.

FirstNet and Band 14 provide public safety with:
-
A dedicated lane of connectivity
With Band 14 and all AT&T bands, FirstNet wireless coverage reaches over 99% of Americans, giving public safety a dedicated lane of connectivity when and where they need it most. -
Highest power levels of any other band in the U.S.
Band 14 is the only LTE band in the U.S. enabled by 3GPP standards for use of High-Powered User Equipment (HPUE). That’s why we launched FirstNet MegaRange™, which significantly boosts signal strength, allowing first responders to operate further away from wireless towers. -
24/7 priority and, for first responders, preemption
FirstNet is the only network that gives first responders priority and preemption on dedicated spectrum when they need it. No matter where in the U.S. the emergency is happening. This is revolutionary.
